JOHN STEZAKER COOL-LAGES!

I heard for the first time about John Stezaker's work in Another Magazine and I felt in love with his kind of provocative and Pop- surrealist collages (you can read the post HERE). Stezaker's work is influenced by Kafka, Jorge Luis Borges and Fernando Pessoa.

A primeira vez que ouvi falar de John Stezaker foi na revista Another de Março onde é publicada uma entrevista com o artista britânico. Apaixonei-me de imediato pelas suas provocativas colagens com influências Pop e surrealistas influênciadas por Kafka, Jorge Luis Borges e Fernando Pessoa.

"More than anything, John Stezaker’s work is about the act of looking. His works focus on the power of the visual and the fascination of the image" said Daniel Hermann ( the Stezaker's Exhibition curator) to Another.

"Mais do que tudp, o trabalho de John Stezaker é sobre o acto de olhar. O seu trabalho é focado no poder e fascinio das imagens" disse Daniel Hermann (o curador de uma das suas últimas exposições).

I loved mainly his "Marriage" series which play with the contradiction male/female as stereotypes.
Destaco sobretudo a sua série "Marriage"(casamento) que joga com os estereótipos aparentemente contraditórios do feminino/masculino.
